Eigenvalues of Schur Decomposition

Theorem

Let $\mathbf A$ be a square matrix.

Let $\mathbf A = \mathbf Q \mathbf T \mathbf Q^*$ be a Schur decomposition for $\mathbf A$.


Then the eigenvalues of $\mathbf A$ appear on the main diagonal of $\mathbf T$.
