I have booked a flight with Austrian. I am trying to upload my passport to the app to facilitate the check-in in a few days.

However, each time I upload my passport, it is refused by the app. The reason is:

We could not verify your travel docu,ent information with the provided picture. Please check the following information:

  • First name
  • Middle name

This document will be deleted automatically on [in a week].

I am using a French passport. For clarification, the procedure I follow on the app is:

  • open the app, I am logged with the email address I used to by tickets
  • Go to "Profile" --> "Personal documents"
  • I can see my passport in the "Stored Documents" with a Rejected status. When I touch the tooltip, I have the error quoted above.
  • touch "Edit" and verify the document's informations.

Below are screenshots from the app and a picture of my first and middle names on my passport (from the same PDF that I upload). Am I doing anything wrong? What can I do to get my passport accepted?

Unfortunately I have found that uploading passports is hit or miss without any obvious reason. Some of the apps and recognizers are just plain old buggy or juts outright terrible (The New Zealand ETA app comes to mind which was utterly broken last time I tried to use it and apparently still is: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=nz.govt.mbie.eta&hl=en_US&pli=1)

I don't think there is anything you can do to work around it. Once the check-in window is open (24 hours before departure), you should be able to enter your passport info manually when you do online check in. If push comes to shove, head to the airport a bit earlier and check in at the counter.
