I'm planning a trip to Crete this summer (flying into Heraklion), and I'm running into an issue: most of the big rental companies seem to require a credit card under my name to book, which I don't have.

I’ve come across a platform called karpadu.com that lists a bunch of smaller local rentals, and they seem to allow booking without a credit card — has anyone used them before, or had experience renting locally like this?

Also wondering if full insurance through the platform is usually enough, or if I should still expect upselling when picking up the car?

Some local companies, like Cretecars, offer no credit card rentals and zero excess insurance, meaning you won’t be liable for damages.
