I have scheduled an interview for a J1 US Visa and I am being asked to bring my Mexican passport with my most recent issued US Visa to the interview. In my case I have a Border Crossing Card B1/B2 (BCC) Visa that is not stamped on my passport, so I suppose I should bring this to the interview.

My main concern is that I was planning to go to the U.S. on a B1/B2 status after my interview for a conference, but I am afraid I may not be able to attend the conference if my BCC is kept by the embassy as my passport surely will be (to be honest, I do not remember if my passport was kept when I renewed my BCC).

Do you happen to know if US Embassies in México keep BCC´s after interviews even though the authorized Visa is not B1/B2.
