I am plotting a complex and wandering route around Europe.

In one leg, I will travel from Milan, Italy to Vaduz, Liechtenstein arriving on a Wednesday at 13:30. It looks like an expensive place to stay so I might move on to Trieste, Italy later the same day. This will mean leaving Vaduz at 15:55. So, a little over 2 hours later.

How risky is this connection? Obviously, I am not looking for a guarantee but a rough estimate from experience would be nice.

I am an EU citizen so I should have no visa issues.

Updates

Don't be too concerned about this specific odd route. Comments on the general reliability of FlixBus would be welcome.

This is about buses not trains.

Long distance buses reliability, no matter the company operating them, strongly depends on the traffic present on the routes they are operating.

If the bus gets stuck in traffic, it's gonna be late.

What can cause traffic congestion?

  • incidents: on this you can't really do any forecast
  • seasonality: roads gets busier when a lot of people are going to or returning from vacation, for example
  • roadworks: these can severely slow down traffic

The above also interact with each other.

Your best option is to check the average traffic conditions on the route for the precise day you have in mind on, for example, Google Maps; you didn't specify that in your question, so can't be verified by me.
