Also known as "travel trailers" or "camper trailers", or just "vans", caravans are portable rigid accommodations on wheels that are towed or hauled behind normal family cars, pickup trucks, etc as a form of camping more comfortable than a tent but smaller and cheaper than an RV or mobile home.

In some places, "on-site vans" are offered as accommodation at campsites and "caravan parks". People rent these just to camp in at the site and they are not to be hitched, towed, or hauled by the renters.
