Kualanamu International Airport (Indonesian: Bandar Udara Internasional Kualanamu) (IATA: KNO) is a newly constructed international airport, named after its location at Kuala Namu, Deli Serdang, North Sumatra, Indonesia, 39 kilometers from Medan, replacing Polonia International Airport. The airport is located on the site of what was previously an oil palm plantation of PT. Perkebunan Nusantara II Tanjung Morawa. The airport is expected to become the new international transit center in Sumatra and the western part of Indonesia, which it is the second largest airport after Soekarno–Hatta International Airport, but the first airport which has a direct rail link to Medan city, the capital of North Sumatra.
