Riyadh (الرياض) is the capital of and largest city in the Kingdom of . It is also the capital of Riyadh Province, a swath of central Saudi Arabia encompassing most of the historical regions of Nejd. Greater Riyadh has a population of almost 9 million.

King Khalid International Airport (KKIA, IATA: ) is the main international gateway to the city, about 35km north of the centre. There are also direct international bus connections from Egypt and the Gulf.
