Due to cost savings am flying indirectly from UK to Barcelona via Milan (MXP).
I'm looking at different budget airlines and my choices are 55mins layover or 3hr 30mins. I'd really like to avoid the three and a half hours in Milan not least because of the later flight wont get me into Barcelona until 23:20 making public transport choices less plus not sure where I'm going yet as will be first time visiting.
But with passport control and possibly having to exit and re-enter in Milan-Malpensa is the 55m doable?
I see both airlines fly into and out of the same terminal.
Wizz Air LGW-MXP
Ryan Air MXP-BCN
I know I need to hope there's no delay on first flight granted but assuming that's good with online check-in and carry-on only just looking for advice from people that perhaps know this airport. Do I have to exit and re-enter T1 or just do UK-EU/Schengen passport controls? Whichever it is, can I realistically make this connection with 55mins between the scheduled landing time and departure time of the two flights?
