The Schengen Area is an area in Europe inside which there are no systematic passport controls. Apart from a few special cases, a visa for any participating country allows travel anywhere in the Schengen area.

As of 2020, the countries inside the Schengen area are: austria, belgium, czech-republic, denmark, estonia, finland, france, germany, greece, hungary, iceland, italy, latvia, liechtenstein, lithuania, luxembourg, malta, monaco^†, netherlands, norway, poland, portugal, san-marino^†, slovakia, slovenia, spain, sweden, switzerland and vatican-city^†.

Overseas territories of are mostly not included. The micronation of andorra and the territory of gibraltar are not part of the Schengen area.
