The city or the province of Antwerp, Antwerpen, Anvers, in Belgium.

Antwerp is a city in the northern part of Belgium, the part usually called Flanders and is the largest city of Flanders (outside the Brussels capital area which is located within Flanders, capital of Flanders but not part of Flanders as such.) It is also the name of the Province of which the city is the capital and main city.

Antwerp is on the River Scheldt, linked to the North Sea by the Westerschelde estuary. It is a main port area with world wide importance.

As city it is an old one, there is the mention of the name in the 4th century but it is thought that there may have been a settlement for a few centuries before that.
The city is now 204.51 km2 (78.96 sq mi) with just over 500k people in 2013.

You can find more information on the city of Antwerp the Wikipedia page and the province of Antwerp wikipedia page which were also my sources.
