Questions tagged [beaches]

Questions about travel to beaches.

A beach is a landform characterized by loose particles sloping along the shoreline of a body of water. An archetypical beach features sand along a seashore, but beaches may also line lakes or rivers, and consist of various sizes of pebbles, stones, shells, or even sea glass. In some parts of the world, a visit to the beach is synonymous with a visit to the shore or the seaside.

Use this tag only if a beach itself is a destination, not merely if an activity is common at the beach, or if there happens to be a beach nearby. Tag the body of water, similarly, only if it has specific relevance to the question. At the same time, it is recommended to tag the appropriate locale (e.g. , ) where the beach in question is located.

Can I reserve a beach spot by leaving an umbrella and lounge chair overnight (Italy)?

During August the beaches in Italy are notoriously crowded and unless you arrive early (and we're talking before sunrise in some places), you cannot get a spot close to water. I have observed that European holiday makers in these locales will…
