BlaBlaCar is a French-based car pooling platform where car owners can share the cost of their car trips by renting up to four seats on their vehicle. Passengers respond to public posting and pay a pre-agreed fee

BlaBlaCar is a popular European car pooling service that aims at cutting car travel cost to both car owners and travelers who share their trip.

Drivers start enlisting their road trip by publishing the route, time and intermediate stops, and by fixing a per-seat price.

Passengers look for a driver on their same route and book a seat for the required price. Poolers will contact each other privately by phone to agree on the designedated pick up and drop off points.

Safety is powered by a reputational community model (i.e. public feedbacks like on eBay and Airbnb) and by car travel insurance which is mandatory in countries Blablacar is active in.
