Newark Liberty International Airport (IATA: EWR, ICAO: KEWR), previously known as Newark International Airport and earlier as Newark Metropolitan Airport, is located in Newark and Elizabeth, . It may appear on airport destination monitors as New York/Newark, as it is the second busiest airport serving greater . It is operated by the Port Authority of NY/NJ.

Newark is a major hub for , as well as a cargo hub for FedEx. There are three passenger terminals labeled A, B, and C, with United and United Express flights primarily using Terminal C.

The terminals are connected by a landside monorail system known as AirTrain Newark, which also connects them to the parking and rental car facilities and to the Newark Liberty International Airport rail station (not to be confused with Newark Penn Station, the main rail terminal in the city). Travel within the airport is free; travel to or from the rail station requires a $5.50 fee which is built into the ticket price on New Jersey Transit and trains.

Aside from the rail station, the airport is accessible via NJTransit bus lines 28, 37, 62, 67, and 107. The Newark Airport Express Bus connects terminals to New York City, while Trans Bridge Lines travels to parts of eastern and central Pennsylvania. Paid shuttle services are also available for connections to LaGuardia Airport () and John F. Kennedy International Airport (). Road access is via U.S. Route 1, connnecting to Interstate 78 or the New Jersey Turnpike/Interstate 95.
