TSA trusted-traveler program that allows special expedited privileges at designated security lines.

TSA Precheck is a program of the Transportation Security Administration () that provides registered travelers traveling on participating airlines access to expedited security lanes and exemption from certain security requirements (though you may be subject to random checks at any time), typically:

  • Use of metal detectors instead of body scanners
  • No need to remove shoes, light jackets, laptops, belts, or liquids

Precheck lanes are not available at all airports, terminals, and checkpoints and may only be open during certain hours.

Advance registration, a non-refundable $85 fee, background check, and submission of fingerprints are required. Members of US Customs and Border Protection trusted traveler programs (. , and ) may also participate. Members receive a Known Traveler Number (KTN) that can be supplied to participating airlines along with the traveler's name, gender, and date of birth. If the Precheck status is approved for a particular flight, an indication will appear on the traveler's boarding pass, designating access to the special lanes.
