Former major U.S. carrier which completed a merger with American Airlines in 2015.
US Airways (IATA: US) was a major American legacy carrier which merged with american-airlines in 2015. Its frequent flyer program, Dividend Miles, was folded into American's AAdvantage program, and likewise its airport lounges, US Airways Clubs, were converted to Admirals Clubs with the merger.
US Airways (until 1996 known as USAir) traced its history to Pittsburgh-based Allegheny Airlines. It grew rapidly through a series of major mergers and acquisitions including

- Empire Airlines
- Mohawk Airlines
- Piedmont Airlines
- Pacific Southwest Airlines (PSA)
before itself being acquired out of bankruptcy by America West Airlines in 2005.
At the time of the merger with American, US Airways operated hubs at phl, clt, phx, and dca. It had previously maintained hubs at pit and bwi and focus cities at lga and bos.
