Beijing Capital International Airport (IATA: PEK; ICAO: ZBAA) is the main international airport serving beijing and the capital region of northern china. It is located about 32 km (20 mi) northeast of Beijing's city center.
A new airport in Daxing is being planned, but as of 2016, PEK and the smaller domestic airport at Nanyuan (IATA: NAY) are Beijing's commercial gateways. To search flights to all airports in the metro area, some sites and reservation systems accept the city code BJS.
PEK has three passenger terminal buildings. Terminal 1 handles domestic flights, notably as a hub for Hainan Airlines. Terminal 2 house's Hainan's international operations as well as the hubs of china-southern-airlines and china-eastern-airlines, and most skyteam operations. Terminal 3 is dominated by air-china's hub operation and its star-alliance partners. Terminals 1 and 2 are connected by a lengthy walkway; a free airside shuttle bus connects them to Terminal 3, which has a people mover system to connect its three concourses.
The Airport Express Line of the Beijing Subway has stations at Terminals 2 and 3, and a terminus at the Dongzhimen transfer station in central Beijing. The Beijing Airport Shuttle Bus service operates routes to various parts of the city and its suburbs, but there is no direct service to Nanyuan Airport. There are four tolled expressways connecting the airport to the road system, as well as the original untolled access road.
