Pudong International Airport (IATA code: PVG) is one of two international airports serving , . Most international flights fly to PVG, whereas Hongqiao Airport () handles mostly domestic and regional flights. The airport is named for the district, and is located approximately 46 km from People's Square in the city center.

PVG is a connecting hub for , which along with most of its partners operates from Terminal 1; and for , which along with most airlines operates primarily out of Terminal 2. Juneyao Airlines, , and Spring Airlines also operate hubs at Pudong.

The terminals are not connected airside, and there is no sterile international-to-international transfer except for selected Star Alliance flights.

PVG is famous for its maglev train, which travels between the airport station between the two terminals to the Metro station at Longyang Road, from which connections are available to the city center. The airport is also served by Metro Line 2, a city bus, and various taxi services.
